Dominican Republic

dominican-republic

I’ve been wanting to return to Dominican Republic for so long! Everybody knows or has heard about the amazing beaches and the beautiful all inclusive resorts. SO MANY to choose from!

First of all, let me teach you how to pick the perfect resort for you. Focus on your KEY REQUIREMENTS:

ARE YOU TRAVELING WITH KIDS, FRIENDS OR IN COUPLE?

WOULD YOU LIKE EXCURSIONS?

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN WATER ACTIVITIES SUCH AS SCUBA DIVING, SNORKELING, JET SKIING ETC.?

ARE YOU OK WITH EATING EVERY DAY, 3 TIMES A DAY AT THE SAME BUFFET RESTAURANT OR WOULD YOU PREFER VARIETY?

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN HAVING ENTERTAINMENT INSIDE YOUR RESORT?

NOW TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS:

If you’re traveling with KIDS, there are resorts with different fun activities for them: scavenger hunts, team games, waterslides or even waterparks.
If you’re traveling with FRIENDS you’ll probably like to have entertainment, so there are clubs inside resorts or you might want to go to the famous Coco Bongo club.
If you’re traveling as a COUPLE, you may want to have some romantic facilities such as a spa, a hot tub in the room or on the balcony.

I had a hot tub on the balcony and the view was to die for!

I made the decision of going to DR a few weeks before the actual trip. I stayed at Barcelo Bavaro Grand Resort (for the second time) and I can honestly say it was the best vacation ever!

It has so many restaurants to choose from: Italian, Mexican, Japanese, Spanish, French, Steak House, Mediterranean, International, 2 buffets and a sports bar/restaurant. My 2 favorite ones were the Mediterranean – La Brisa because of the romantic setting and the French one – La comedie as it looks so classy and elegant. It also has some beautiful bars, lounges, cigar bars and terraces for when you want to have a drink in the evening or go out “on a date" 🙂

They have a ton of activities both for adults and for children: snorkeling, scuba diving, mini golf, kids play area and waterpark, aqua gym, scavenger hunts for kids, beach dance, etc.

The rooms look amazing! Of course I was most excited about the view and the balcony hot tub where is where I spent most of my time while being in the room.

The evening shows were so much better than I expected and my favorite one was the Michael Jackson show (yes, I’m an MJ fan for life) on Tuesdays. The theatre is huge, it has two levels and an impressive stage. Of course you can also have drinks there while watching the show!

There was not one thing that I didn’t like about this resort and I’ll surely pick the same one next time I want a vacay in DR.
