A weekend in Paris

a-week-in-paris

I started this blog last year (August 2017) and it was right after a trip to Paris that I didn’t have time to document. Well guess what! I’m back in Paris and I’m ready to share my experience there with you! This year I’m spending a weekend here. Is a week enough to discover the beauty of Paris? Definitely NOT. But you can get a sense of what Paris is about.

Of course, if you’re planning a trip to Paris I would always recommend making sure the weather is nice. There’s nothing better than walking down the little rues of Paris while the sun is warming the city.

DAY 1 – settling in at Hotel Chavanel

I checked in to the loveliest, dreamiest boutique hotel in Paris – Hotel Chavanel. I always try to pick an accommodation either close to Les Halles or L’Opera. It’s my favorite area because all the little street cafes and sushi restaurants.

Hotel Chavanel has been such a lovely surprise! It is perfectly located on Rue Tronchet, a chic and quiet street right next to the Opera. It is a perfect place for shopping, but also for a nice parisian dinner as there are a lot of good restaurants close to the hotel.

More and more over the years I started preferring boutique hotels because of the sophistication, warmth and discreet luxury. This family owned boutique hotel has been the perfect pick for my Paris getaway.

Day one was mostly for settling in and going from one cafe to the other to reconnect with the parisian style.

DAY 2 – visit the Eiffel Tower and the surroundings

Every traveler researches top attractions for a trip. But every instagrammer researches instagrammable spots for that perfect, thousand likes shot. I’ll admit I usually try to combine. Actually I got up at 5 am to catch the sunrise and take some beautiful pictures with the Eiffel Tower. The spot for an Eiffel Tower picture is, in my opinion, Trocadéro. But don’t get fooled: even if you get there while it’s still dark, there will be people! People waiting for the same thing as you: take sunrise pictures.

If you don’t mind having other people in your shot, don’t even bother waking up so early. Come around lunch time or even dinner, but before the sunset, get your shot and go dine at Cafe de Paris, right next to Trocadéro.

DAY 3 – walk around Paris and hit up some famous spots

One of my favorite things to do in every city I visit is research if any of my favorite movies or TV shows have shot any scenes there and visit that exact spot.

This time I wanted to visit for the first time the famous bridge – Pont de Bir Hakeim that was featured in many movies, some of them being Inception and National Treasure. But to be honest I was remembering it only from Inception.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about then you definitely haven’t seen Inception so stop reading this right now and go watch that movie!
